There are hosts of questions, from why House Speaker Kevin McCarthy would pretend giving Fox Entertainment’s Tucker Carlson exclusive access to more than 40,000 hours of video footage and pretend that was the beloved “transparency” to video showing the Qanon Shaman being accompanied through the capitol’s hallways by a phalanx of police.
Does any of this change the other video of cops being beaten, windows broken, people in Pelosi’s office or rifling through papers in the Senate chamber?
Can January 6 be “reinvented”? Will McCarthy’s own words of what he experienced be memory holed? Who would be susceptible to Carlson’s “who you gonna believe, me or your own lying eyes?” Does Carlson, whose emails reflect that he doesn’t think highly of his audience’s intelligence and never believed the election was stolen, have the persuasive clout to compel his fan base to believe that this was no insurrection, but a rowdy tour of the capitol?
